Meet Lamont
Born and raised in Essex Village, a low-income neighborhood in Richmond, Senator Bagby has never forgotten where he came from and is living proof that access to a quality education is the great equalizer, having earned degrees at both Norfolk State and Virginia Commonwealth Universities. It’s why he got involved in his community fundraising to help young people afford school supplies. It’s why he ran for the School Board and became an advocate and champion for students, educators, and public education. And it’s why when given the opportunity to serve in the Virginia House of Delegates, he ran and was elected. Through it all, he’s stayed true to who he is and has fought for the people of Henrico County, Richmond, and people across the Commonwealth. Additionally, Senator Bagby is Chair of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus, and has guided Virginia through monumental change, making the Commonwealth a more equitable place to live, work, and raise a family.
